I feel like a lot of comic writers will try to throw in some snarky dialogue like this, but be so much more unbelievable and inorganic. And that’s because bad writers make their characters all the same, and don’t think through why they’re arguing. But with this there are genuine cultural differences within James’ own family that make it work. There’s more than one reason they’re arguing. It’s a fight that came from actual, believeable tension, and is just light enough that these characters can still live together without constantly expecting unnecessary cringy drama from one another. This is perfect. James so isn’t a snowflake, but he’s clearly irritated.
this went from happy family get together to make everyone sad really quick…love the realism and honesty in this
The mood flipped from happy to sad to angry in just 3 pages. Well done!
At least James’ family interacts with him. My family has shunned me ever since I came out.
Ahhh, family. :P
We are family ♫

I like how Chris takes on the role of a father figure.
